Exotel Hackathon – Can you tell what they’re feeling?
Detecting Sentiment Of Conversations
Sentiment detection is not a new problem. It is an interesting tech problem and quite a few individuals and companies have been trying to solve it for ages now. It is an especially interesting problem to solve in India. Given the numerous languages and the strong English accent we have makes it that much harder to build a tight system that can detect sentiment in conversations. For tech addicts and geeks, this is a perfect opportunity to get hooked on to a long-standing problem and build a solution that will see the light of the day in a short span of time.
Exotel aims to be at the forefront of all customer facing communication in the next few years. And given our aim to power and make customer conversations hassle free, sentiment detection adds an interesting dimension to the problem we’re trying to solve.
Why another hackathon in the age of never-ending hackathons?
Well, this is a very interesting engineering problem to solve and at Exotel we are already working on it. And while doing that we thought it would be fun to see how some of the smartest developers out there approached this problem.
Virtual hackathon
Since this is a problem that is bound to take considerable time and effort to solve, we decided to make this a virtual hackathon. Work from wherever you are, upload the results to the contest page and you are good to go.
We are very excited to be hosting this for the first time ever! And we hope to make this an annual feature. Happy coding!
