Intro

Almost 83% of the workforce in Indonesia belongs to the unorganized sector. They are not accustomed to using technology for job hunting. While classifieds are useful for hiring in general, they don’t necessarily provide the best experience for the employers when it comes to hiring blue and grey collared employees. Majority of this workforce finds it a challenge to enter their exact profile details on online job portals. All of these factors cause a mismatch between what the employer is looking for and the candidates skill-set.

Bridging the gap with Kickstart Jobs

Kickstart Jobs bridges this gap between entry-level employees and employers using a simple referral model. This referral model has multiple ‘Kickstart Leaders’ in different geographies, with access to various kinds of workforce around them. As soon as a vacancy is posted on the Kickstart Jobs app, it goes to the right ‘Kickstart Leader’ based on their location and the skill-set pool they have access to. The leaders then help employers get connected to the right candidate for interviews.

The idea is to get leaders to use their networks to help job seekers find jobs.

Using Cloud Telephony

A large part of the communication at Kickstart Jobs happens over the phone – between employers and candidates, candidates and Kickstart Leaders. Exotel helps Kickstart jobs makes the job easier by powering calls – incoming, outgoing and even automated calls.

Automated Calls for a Complete Profile

Problem
When Kickstart Jobs started out, testing the communication skills of the candidate was challenging. Doing it manually meant that they had to call each candidate. Dealing with over 500 candidates each day, it needed a significant workforce to do just this.

Solution

Automating this process was the answer. When a ‘Leader’ sends a candidate’s profile on the app, an automated call is triggered asking them some questions. For instance, if a candidate’s profile is picked for a sales executive job, they’re asked simple questions about why they want to apply for the job. The answers of this, along with the rest of the profile, are then sent to the employer.

Result

Automated calls helped us in adding more authenticity to our platform. Right now our Leaders send us an entire profile, but there is a huge element of authenticity which is still missing in these profiles. What Exotel’s calls helps us do is capture the entire profile of the person which then helps the employer accurately judge whether or not the candidate is suitable for this position, even before he calls the candidate for the interview. It helps us in filtering out the right candidates and saves time

Problem
As an early stage startup, Kickstart Jobs is in its initial learning phase where the processes are yet to be set and standardized. At this juncture, it is imperative for them to understand their critical functions and for them to be able to figure out what happens in each of these roles. Being able to manage their leader support or manage their leads internally are some of the critical functions Kickstart Jobs was looking to standardize.

Solution

Since a significant portion of their leads come via calls, using Exotel’s call center solution was one of the simplest ways for Kickstart Jobs to streamline functions. Kickstart Jobs has integrated Exotel with their customer support software so now all calls are recorded, tickets are raised as per the issue, and there is a definite resolution time.
